Enabling courses

Our enabling courses are designed for future students who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The six and 12-month courses lead to a range of Curtin undergraduate degrees, in business, health, science and engineering.

If you don’t have an ATAR or left school early, an enabling course can help you meet the requirements for your chosen Curtin degree. It will also give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed at university.

Enabling Course Graduate Kassandra Boladeras

Kassandra Boladeras is a proud Ballardong Noongar yorga, who graduated from one of our enabling courses, and is now the Marketing & Operations Manager at Winayama. She is passionate about helping close the digital divide for First Nations Australians by empowering organizations with the technology skills to care for Country and Mob. Kassandra is also a committee member for the Youth Pride Network – YPN, driven to create positive opportunities and advocate for LGBTIQA+ youth, particularly Indigenous and incarcerated LGBTIQA+ people.

Isaiah Kamid’s Journey from Enabling Course to Medicine

Isaiah Kamid graduated from a CAS enabling course to pursue a career in medicine and give back to his community.

His journey led him to Curtin University, where he completed an enabling course through the Centre for Aboriginal Studies and then pursued a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. Despite facing financial constraints and the pressures of balancing academic studies with part-time work, Isaiah remained steadfast in his commitment to excellence. His dedication paid off, and he graduated with flying colours, earning accolades for his outstanding academic performance.

However, Isaiah’s journey didn’t end with graduation, it was just the beginning. Armed with his pharmacy degree and a passion for making a difference in the world, Isaiah embarked on a career dedicated to serving his community. His work in rural and remote areas highlighted the critical role of healthcare professionals in bridging gaps in access to essential services and improving health outcomes for disadvantaged communities.
